Dear Free Earth Family, Friends & Supporters,

With regret, we announce the Reschedule of Free Earth Festival 2020.
Our highest priority is to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all participants.

We first organized this Festival back in 2013, in order to re-establish Greece into the global map of Psychedelic Festivals and bring back the original vibes to the scene. Ever since 2003, when we organized the last Samothraki Dance Festival, the outdoor festival scene in Greece had been frozen for a decade. We then decided that it was time to create a new concept, which would give the necessary space to each music variation of our scene and gather all tribes of the Psychedelic Culture.

After seven years and five editions of the Festival and with all your love and support we managed to accomplish our mission. Free Earth Festival has become home for more than 4000 people, creating a wonderful multi-cultural entity. We wanted to create a place where each participating person would live a life-changing experience. For us, organizing this festival is not just about making money, but also about trying to change people’s lives.

Every year we start our preparations in early September for next year’s Festival. Our organization has expenses and bills to pay every single month of the year. We would like to say to those who think that organizing a festival is an easy task that this could not be further from the truth. The organization consists of a core team of 14 persons who are working throughout the year in order to reach a climax in July and August, where our production expands to 400 persons for the last two months and the actual Festival event.

We were originally hoping that the situation regarding restrictions as a result of the global COVID -19 outbreak would turn around since in Greece we have a very hot summer. However regrettably, last week, the Greek Government announced that all events in Greece, including open-air concerts and festivals, would have to meet certain conditions and various health protocols. These conditions make the organization of this year's festival practically impossible.

This unfortunate situation puts us in a terrible position, concerning many aspects of the Festival. Being an underground psychedelic festival, our revenue depends entirely on ticket presales and the income arising from food and bar services and markets operating within the Festival grounds. We are not a corporate festival and unfortunately, we have no companies sponsoring us. Our festival exists and develops only because of your love and financial support.
Each one of YOU is, in fact, our biggest supporter since you are investing your trust and hard-earned money into the VISION of the Free Earth Festival.

The revenue we received thus far this year from ticket presale has been already spent on many different areas of production. Since, as we mentioned earlier, our festival is happening because of you, we feel obligated to provide you with a more detailed explanation about our Festival expenses.

Firstly most of the Festival Core Crew have been given a deposit or have been fully paid. These are the people that have invested their lives into making this Festival an unforgettable experience and we owe a lot to them. On the other hand, we have already paid deposits for Artists, Flights, Accommodation, Transportation, Hardware and Equipment, Sound and Lighting Equipment, Storage Facilities, Various Projects, Marketing and many more. There are also expenses relating to the Venue, the New Eco Driven Policies, the acquisition of Governmental Licenses, Taxes, Social Insurances, Legal Consultation, and the list goes on...

We are sharing all these details with you since we want you to be fully aware of the kind of financial problems we are now facing and trying to resolve.

As you can imagine, since the Festival will not take place this year and as a direct result, we will have to suffer huge financial losses, which could create existential problems, for many of us.

For those who bought tickets for this year’s Festival during the pre-sale period, we would first like to offer our love and gratitude. We know that you are all wondering what will happen with your tickets. As you already have been informed during the pre-sale of tickets, through our terms and condition policies, we have a no refund policy in cases of force majeure, such as a pandemic. Even acknowledge the extremely unusual situation that we are all in, thus we are willing to absorb this huge loss and transfer your presale tickets for next year’s Festival!!!

Soon we will launch a system, where you wıll be able to rollover your tickets for next year’s Festıval. All other services (Bus, Tipis, Lockers, Hotels) acquired will be valid for Free Earth 2021 automatically. We want to reassure you that all these services will be provided in Free Earth Festival 2021. You will be informed through our social media and website. Your patience throughout this process will be greatly appreciated.

This will allow us to ensure the survival of the Festival in the long term and provide you with compensation for this year’s ticket. However naturally, we will still need to absorb this year’s huge financial loss.

What YOU can do from your end in order to help us overcome this difficult situation and make sure that the Festival survives, is to support us if you are in a position to do so, by NOT requesting a ticket rollover and thus automatically donate your ticket to the Festival. We realize that these are difficult times for everyone and we want to assure, that those who will request a ticket rollover will get one.

By supporting us, you will give valuable help to small artists and simple workers. These are the most vulnerable and less protected people, that they have a special place behind the scenes for every production.

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues to wreak havoc around the world. Free Earth Festival requires the collaboration of the entire community — organizers, crew, artists, builders, stage developers, volunteers, locals, and so many more — coupled with significant investments of time, money, and energy... We are devastated!

Free Earth 2020 is rescheduled to 24 - 29 August 2021.

The Festival organization is operational 365 days a year. Our work each year starts just a few days after we close the Festival gates. The organization has expenses and bills to pay every single month of the year. The organization consists of a core team of 14 persons who are ones who work through-out the year. Please bear in mind that all festivals, especially Psytrance, serve a certain community. Our role, as organizers, in this community is essential, since we have a big responsibility to support a large number of individuals, that their contribution to the Festival is vital, by offering work. The most vulnerable are the small artists and workers behind the scenes, people that are not promoted in any way. We should all make an effort and demonstrate our responsibility and love, by supporting all the Psytrance Festivals in need worldwide!
We strongly believe that your donation will be a vital contribution for the survival of our Festival in the long run. We are aware that many of you are facing serious problems at the moment but we hope for your support.

It is extremely difficult and in some cases impossible to make a proper cancelation insurance, since we are not a corporate Festival. In simple words, our kind of Festival has so many aspects that are unknown to the Insurance Companies, making this task so difficult. Even if that was possible, the asked amount would be outrageous. But even if we had paid this outrageous amount for cancelation insurance, it wouldn’t make any difference, since no Event insurances cover for a pandemic like Covid-19.

The majority of Psytrance Festivals have been created by small independent companies and self-employed individuals. These people, using their own funds, have dedicated their life in setting new standards in our music scene. Sounds like an amazing and profitable work, but you have to consider that it comes with a great responsibility and very hard work that doesn’t guaranty any steady income. Since we aren’t a corporate Festival, our existence and development relays on your support and love. Each one of YOU who buys our tickets is our biggest supporter and buying a ticket means investing your trust and hard-earned money into the Free Earth Vision

Free Earth organization hasn't reached the level that we could actually save money. Some small profits have occurred the last couple of years, but there were immediately invested in next year’s production. Till this day, the initial investment for Free Earth Festival has not been recovered. We don't moan about it, but we think it’s worth mentioning!

Based on the latest announcements of the Greek Government, with which we are in contact, it is now clear that we cannot hold this year's Festival under the specific conditions that have been formed. The preconditions for any event to occur, are essentially impossible to fulfill. With a series of Health Protocols, the following are required: Social distance, Masks for everyone, Special Entry-Exit Points and COVID diameter, Strict Camping Regulations/ WC/ Shower/ Markets / Restaurants and Bars, as well as possible health and quarantine problems and daily inspections by Local Authorities inside and outside the Festival. Due to all the above, the implementation of this year's Festival is practically impossible.

That's an easy one! You don't need to do anything! Just DON'T ROLL OVER your ticket to 2021 and you will have successfully donated your ticket to Free Earth, supporting us in these rough times! We really appreciate your support and the love you are giving us!

Greek ticketing legislation within the COVID-19 context, as announced from the Government and specifically from the Ministry of Culture, establishes temporary measures for cultural and artistic events in Greece, more specifically for events that did not take place due to force majeure reasons. Events which did not take place must be rescheduled within the next 12 – 18 months starting from the date in which they should have originally taken place. If the event is rescheduled within this timeframe, the ticket holder will be given a voucher or a roll over and he/she may attend the event on the new dates. The ticket holder cannot demand a cash refund for an event which was rescheduled as opposed to cancelled due to COVİD-19 Pandemic Force Majeure.

Due to the many pending issues, concerning all aspects of the festival, as a consequence of the current situation, we need some time in order for all pending issues to be settled on the basis of their priority.
Therefore, we will give priority to the completion of this process, before we start the pre-sale and the preparations for the festival of the next year. Otherwise, it will be a nightmare for the planning, logistics and administration.

Even though our terms and conditions policies forbet name changes, resale of tickets since tickets are strictly personal, due to the current situation we allowed name changes till a certain date. This process is finished. 

The very few remaining revenues from Free Earth 2020 tickets sales and all donations will be used for the organization of the 2021 Festival!

Most important, don’t give up hope. Free Earth Festival will survive this crisis just as we have done in the past, surviving similar or greater existential threats. Please, keep connecting and collaborating with your friends and associates. Don't forget to respect those around you, to take care of them and take care of yourself, to be aware and well informed. In return, you will become our personal hero/heroine, a super heroic human that will be counted among the most generous souls worldwide, one who helped humanity in a time of crisis.

Not really…we also face serious existential problems, as a consequence of this terrible situation. Our lives have changed dramatically, especially after the postponement our annual gathering.
